David is Sr. Director, Network Supply Operations for Pfizer with over 25 years of pharmaceutical industry experience. He is currently responsible for Pfizer’s Global API Planning as well as Supply Chain processes for manufacturing sites in the emerging markets. David is also process owner for Pfizer's Global Supply’s drug shortage reporting efforts. Previously at Wyeth, David had responsibility for Strategic Sourcing of biologics and API’s, was Asia Pacific Supply Chain lead where he oversaw the introduction of new product launch and S&OP processes, and relocated to Japan to lead local supply operations. Earlier at SmithKline Beecham, David worked in project engineering and management roles with focus on process improvements, validation and technology transfers for oral dosage, parenteral manufacturing and packaging technologies. He also managed a high-containment lyophilization operation for cytotoxic products, where he partnered with R&D on product development projects and clinical supply. David has a BS degree from Drexel University in Commerce and Engineering Sciences and a MS degree from the University of Tennessee in Engineering Management, along with a Quality Engineer Certification from American Society of Quality.

Nearly fifty countries require notification of drug shortages to their health authorities and many have significant differences between when and what types of products industry needs to report. These requirements continue to evolve with revised and more demanding reporting needs for FDA and EMA, among others, for example.
